SIST Sunderland participated in the Great Debaters National Tournament (1st edition in English) which was held at Ecole INPT in Madinate Irfane on Saturday 27th October 2013 where, students from various schools and colleges. compete in debates on topical issues political, economic and cultural subjects.
This activity aims through the debating process to improve the skills of all participants to master and present a clear argument, precise and concise method, in order to convey a message or display knowledge.
The competition is organized in a friendly atmosphere where students and teachers from various schools and colleges sharing their experience to build and strengthen the fabric of the Moroccan students.
The competition began with 20 schools from around Morocco and after 4 rounds the final came down to SIST Sunderland and ENCG Oujda
The winners were SIST Sunderland, what is even more remarkable this is the first competition they had entered as a debating team.
Themes of the debates:
o Politics and religion should be separated (Opposition)
o There is no universal moral standard (Opposition)
o Capitalism. (Government)
