On Saturday April the 27th, in Nador, The Procedings of Common Memory Cinema Festival concluded with award for the best two Documentary films: “Tinghir Jerusalem echoes from the Mellah” by Kamal Hachkar and “Burduss” by Rola Salama. The event was organized throughout the last week under the theme:” Immigrations, Human rights, Cultural diversity in Mediteranean region ” .
The two documentaries were voted for the first place by two committees, certified by the Common Memory center of Democracy and Peace, for they were the most relevant to the subject of the festival . They convey live and significant aspects, and impressing stories full of hope which can contribute to change.
Kamal Hachkar,the director of “Tinghir Jerusalem” and the winner of two prizes : Media and the best documentary film, considered the award as victory to peace and cultural diversity in Morocco specially in Tamazight (berber) culture which has strong roots in very deep history. He added that “Tinghir Jerusalem” documentary has come to expose important stations in history. The film mainly mentions the memory of Jews existence in Atlas region especially in Tinghir city, and also deals with the special harmony between Muslims and the Moroccan Jews before their large immigration to Israel.
Rula Salama ,the director of “Burduss” documentary , and who also came in the first place, stated that the strong belief in the Principe of Harmony and Dignity in the North East of Morocco was the reason behind her visit to the region and exactly to Nador . This is the same issue, according Salama, that her documentary treats.
The best long film award was granted to the Turkish film “ Germany” while the Spanish film “ Mush Bush” was voted the best short film of which Zubida Bughaba, from Alhoceima, is the director .
