Nador : Connecting Classrooms Training Days for Teachers of English

About 50 teachers of English based in the province of Nador, along with their supervisor, Mr Abdelhamid Al Idrissi, took part in training sessions which lasted for two days, 07-08 of February, 2019 and organized by the British Council in partnership with the Ministry of Education within the framework of “Connecting Classrooms” Programme. This event which was held at the Ministry’s directorate in Nador (Morocco) aims at equipping the teachers with full understanding, basic tools and practical tips on teaching the core skills particularly Critical thinking and problem solving . The training sessions were conducted by Mr Mohammed Hassim and Mr Khalil Zakari, ELT supervisors at the Ministry of Education.

Day 1:

The first day’s sessions targeted very important aspects of CTPS; “Perspective and Assessing Evidence”. After discussing the importance of introducing CTPS to students, the trainers illustrated practical ideas to the participants with the purpose of integrating CTPS skills in the syllabus related lesson plans. Besides, the participants had the chance to go through a set of workshops and discussion tasks on implementing these core skills within the current Moroccan school context.


Day2:

Mr On the second day of the training, Mr Hassim and Mr Khalil shed light on the fundamental role of developing “Non-routine Problems” skills in 21st century. The objective behind this session is to address the necessity of training students on dealing with unexpected problems that have never happened before, and which can’t have any ready-made solutions. Developing “Non-routine problems” skills prepares our students for the real life and the current job market. In The following section during this training day, the participants were invited to implement at their schools what they have learned be prepared to share their outcomes on the third training day which will be held later.

On the other hand, the issue of ‘child protection’ was an interesting component that was addressed in the last session of the second training day. This session dealt with the important role teachers play in promoting the right of children for protection.
