The Moroccan Association of Teachers of English (MATE) has recently concluded its 37th Annual conference on the theme: “Innovating Language Education: What Influential Roles for Teachers.” On 30 January – 02 February, 2017 at Atlantic Palace Hotel, Agadir, Morocco.
The event this year targeted promising objectives which are :
- Define the concept of innovation in language education and its implications for the classroom teacher;
- analyze and discuss the roles teachers should play to be able to innovate their practices in order to improve learning and teaching;
- help participants spot various practical methods and techniques of educational innovation;
- showcase best practices in educational innovation and share them; and
- Eventually come up with practical recommendations for innovative classroom practices.
Remarkable activities including more than 35 presentations and workshops, about the latest innovative approaches of teaching and learning English, with a focus on the role of the teacher , were conducted throughout the period of the conference. In addition, 220 participants from different parts of Morocco, and abroad from USA,UK and Tunisia, took part in this event.
The conference was concluded with a speech by MATE president, Mr Hassim, in which he thanked all the participants, speakers, partners, as well as the sponsors. After certificates destribution, the participants were given the floor to share their feedback, recommendations for further improvement.
MATE’s 2017 conference, was described as the most successful sesssion according to many participants.
