COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING SENTENCES WITH INFORMATION FROM THE TEXT /
FILL IN THE BLANKS WITH WORDS, PHRASES OR EXPRESSIONS FROM THE TEXT

In these exercises, you are given uncompleted sentences. To complete them you:

• You will either take a whole sentence or part of a sentence from the text and write it as it is
• Or you can take the idea from the text and express it in your own words

What important is that the information you write should be from the text.

يمكن كتابة عبارات أو جمل حرفيا لإكمال الجمل، في حين يستوجب في بعض الأحيان إعادة صياغة فكرة أو معلومة من النص.

مثال تطبيقي

Let’s practice with this example from National Exam:

• For the sentence1, the expression “distant” is synonymous to the word “remote” in paragraph 4.
• The expression “no longer need to” means “do not have to” in the same paragraph.

So, the sentence completion should be from paragraph 4. Also, we can use the same words in the text since the sentence structure is similar to the one in the exercise. Thus, the answer can be like this :

•  For the sentence 2, the last lines of the text explain Zang’s attitude towards money. Zang’s purpose is improving people’s lives.

• The first part of the sentence “ Zang is not interested ..” uses the expression “is interested in+ gerund [verb (+ing)’ . So, you can complete the sentence following the same structure by adding gerund form to the verb “improve”. Then, your answer can be as the following:

Zang is not interested in making money, but in improving people’s lives.
