B. A. E. L. Z closed off the schooling year 2016/2017 by the third edition of Students Got Talent Festival.

Organized by BASMA ASSOCIATION OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE IN ZAGORA on 5th and 6th of May 2017, the third edition of “Students Got Talent” show was a huge turn out! A very rich, varied and highly challenging and entertaining two-day program was presented by highly motivated, hardworking middle and high school students. Contest areas are centered on spelling bee, public speaking, singing and drama. About two hundreds of competitors from twenty middle and high schools in Zagora participated in these contests. Valuable prizes were given to winners.

The program began by the thanking words of Basma Association, , the Delegation of Education and the Director of the Cultural House in Zagora. None of them were hesitant to show their great joy and happiness about three years of excellent educational and language promoting activities, study days, social and cultural caravans and meetings conducted by the association.  After that, the association honored two great hard-working, perseverant persons from three different domains: Mr. Mohamed BANOURE, a well-known painter artist in Zagora, and the young lady Naoual ELGASSMI, a very active pediatrician in the Provincial Hospital of Zagora who has started many medical initiatives in the hospital, also reputed for organizing a lot of medical caravans in the region of Zagora, and Amal Lamhaouili,an English teacher in Rabat, who supports and help ELT Community in Zagora.

Then, the talent show program was opened by the spelling bee competitions, team and solo. Ten middle schools and thirteen high schools participated in this contest. The competition among schools was tough and all the students performed amazingly. However, the rules of every competition state that there should be a first place winner and in this competition, Sidi Ahmed Ibn Ali middle school and Elmasira high school won the first places. The second and third places go to Otman Ibn Affan and Omar Bno Alkhattab high schools respectively.

The program continued with the singing contest. Thirteen participants from different schools surprised the audience with unexpected talents. Enjoyable moments were they those experienced by the attendance during this competition. A fantastic voice of a student from Otman Ibn Affan high school got the first prize. The second position goes to Elmassira high school and the third position goes to Sidi Ahmed Ibn Ali middle school.

Throughout the drama and public speaking competitions, students showcased a variety of wonderful public speaking skills and displayed great abilities in drama. Fifteen competitors participated in public speaking and nine schools participated in theatricals. All the performances were charming and enjoyable. A play performed by Wlad Yahya Lgrayr high school won the first place in drama and a public speaker from Omar Bno Elkhattab high school was the winner. Elmasira and Omar Bno Elkhattab won the second and third place in Drama respectively, while Wlad Yahya Lgrayr and Imam Malik high schools got the second and third places in public speaking.

The two-day talent show program in spelling bee, singing, public speaking and drama was designed to fit the orientations of the Ministry of Education and the objectives of Basma Association of English Language in Zagora concerning the learning and promotion of foreign languages especially English and the extension of the school to its outside environment through extra-curricular activities.

This year´s “Students Got Talent 3”- which is the first of its kind in Zagora- was not merely a name for the third edition but a reality performed on the stage of the cultural center in Zagora over two days. The association believes that students can make it. Impressions of satisfaction and gratefulness are left on everyone who attended the talent show.
