A butterfly in a dark night
Abdelaziz Berrada is one of the uprising African superstars who will sign his name with golden blockletters in the years to come both in his club FC Getafe and the Moroccan national team.
His star shines first in the Olymlpic Games 2012, last summer in London.
In an interview held exclusively by the Moroccan semi Weekly, special for Moroccan sports : Al-Mountakhab; edited by special envoy , Jelloul Etouijer.
The Interview :
Al-Mountakhab : The Moroccan national team again fails to qualify after a really tough match against South Africa ?what can you say?
Berrada : I can’t offer nothing to Moroccan fans, but I’m indeed so sorry and I apologize to the fans for our disqualification.We were about to pass the next round but we were not luycky enough to do so.
Al-Mountakhab :Don’t you think that we mistreated the match?
Berrada : This can be true, because we were about to kill the match in two solo occasions: one with Chafni in the first half and the second occasion in the second half with Al-Arabi. But still luck is turning his back to us.
Al-Mountakhab : What do you think of the future of the Lions ?
Berrada : They will have a flourishing and astonishing future, if and only if have encouraged this team and believed in our chances. Because we have a young tam. They have proved that they can compete big teams in the African cup of nations.
Al-Mountakhab :The Moroccan team has missed the victory in the matches against Angola and Cabo Verde. In your opinion, what are the reasons that led you,Lions of Atlas, to get only two points from these two matches.
Berrada : Yes, it is true that we have missed the first two games, but we have showed great efforts against Angloan, who have great players. Yet, this doesn’t mean that we weren’t in our shape. In fact, we have created great opportunities to score. However, we couldn’t turn them into goals. And in football if you don’t score, just prepare your net for goals and goals.So, we waited for the second match against Cabo Verede.In this match, we confronted real blue sharks. They were well-organized in the middle of the field. So, eventhogh, this is their first participation in the CAN, and have got no history behind them in the African cup of nations but have unexpectedly surprised us with their way of playing. This would mean that there is no big team or small team in the African cup of ‘surprization’.
In the end, we are really sorry for this situation.We actually don’t deserve it, especially that we have some good players who have got great skills and potentials.
Al-Mountakhab :Last but not least, Mr. Berrada what can you say in an open word?
Berrada : Thank you for receiving me in your platform, and I hope that the Moroccan fans will continue in encouraging us, so that we can come back.and I’m sure that if we continue our work, we shall be better and better.
