On February 26, 2017, Basma Association of English Language in Zagora (BAELZ) in collaboration with the regional council of Zagora province and AFDES association in Zagora organized an activity-rich cultural day for the students of the specialized institution of applied technology (known as ISTA) in Zagora. This event is one of a series of several cultural events that the association starts to animate in high schools, vocational training schools, and private schools in Zagora.Activities range from workshops, round-table discussions and presentations to public speaking, drama, spelling bee and singing. About one hundred students took part in competitions. The day was kicked off by a workshop about “After-graduation Work Possibilities: Strategies to Take the Right Decision”. During the workshop, students discovered many after-graduation pathways and try to situate themselves according to their qualifications.
The day was wrapped up by the famous BASMA-GAME-SHOW which includes a lot of challenging activities for students in English. As usual, these activities go along with the objectives of the association for the promotion of English language, the enhancement of students’ learning and motivation and the attempt to take part in the development of pedagogical methods and techniques for the betterment of English language teaching in the Moroccan context.
This event was organized 1) in accordance with the orientations of the country’s educational policy concerning the openness towards other languages and cultures and 2) in collaboration with the regional council of Zagora province and AFDES association in Zagora. More events of the like are to come in the near future.
