In the first reaction from a governmental official on applying French Baccalaureate, Lahcen Daoudi stated that the Baccalaureate issue is circumstantial solution, confirming that English is the solution to crucial issues in Moroccan education system.
The Minister of higher education revealed his plan to impose English language in Moroccan universities, and as a must condition to obtain doctorate .
In his interview with Alyoum24, Mr Daoudi pointed that his ministry is seeking to integrate English language in scientific departments of Moroccan universities. He added that English should be a must-learn language to whoever wants to join scientific careers in the universities, while French is no longer enough even neither useful.
The minister of Higher education stressed the extreme necessity of mastering English in universities, justifying it’s nowadays the key to technology and science. In this regard, as the minister pointed out , Arabic can be taught as well and French is important in France and Africa . But we should benefit from scientific references which are mostly in English, he added.
According to Mr Daoudi, Western scientific searchers used to study Arabic at Al–Qarawiyyin university in Morocco when Arabic was the source of science.Whereas now, the actual language of science is English whether we admit or not.
Commenting on applying French Baccalaureate, He affirmed it’s a circumstantial solution, mentioning that several developed countries are directing forward English.
