While the Moroccan Minister of Education, Belmekhtar denied being responsible for adopting the French baccalaureate, he seems to be strongly defending the project.
According to Hespress Online News, Belmekhtar expressed his surprise of the baccalaureate Frenchization charge, and affirmed that the articles 114 and 117 of the National Chart of Education stresses the necessity of teaching French and promoting the foreign languages.
The Minister stated that he wasn’t a minister of education when the French baccalaureate agreement signed with the French prime minster.
On the other hand, Belmekhtar defends this project which has provoked a wide dispute. He pointed, according to Hespress, that French Baccalaureate is internationally recognized and has its advantages. He stated that The project gives the opportunity for all students, whatever their financial situation is, to acquire French language unlike before.
The speaker added that applying French baccalaureate is one of his priorities seeking to promote French level starting from Middle school. In addition, he revealed that the project includes English and Spanish as well.
