Becoming is a travel-within-time journey through which Mrs. Michelle Obama, the former United States first lady, is taking us with her to her early childhood to what she has become now. The book is divided into three sections along with a preface and an epilogue: “Becoming Me”, “Becoming Us” and “ Becoming More”.
In the first section, Becoming Me, the first lady pictures and portrays the life led by Afro-Americans while telling us about her childhood, starting from her little family; her parents and her brother, through her education at Princeton University and Harvard Law School to when she becomes a lawyer and the meeting with Barak Obama, the former United States president.
The second section, Becoming Us as the title suggests is a sort of love story between Michelle and Barak and how it ended up with marriage from one hand and getting elected as the president on the other hand.
The third and the last section Becoming More is where Mrs. Obama becomes responsible for her family, the white house and supporting her husband as the president of the USA all through his ups and downs in happiness and sorrow.
Becoming is considered the highest-selling book in the United States. It is not just a biography but it is also a great piece of work that sheds the light on the fears and the struggles of the Afro-Americans for a better life and a desire to be part of the main.
