Badou Zaki returns as Morocco's head coach

Finaly Badou Zaki has been appointed as the country’s new national coach, the Morocco Football Federation has confirmed.

Replacing interim coach Hassan Benabicha, Zaki will be in charge of the Atlas Lions in their 2015 African Cup of Nations campaign that will start next January.

Several coaches were linked with the job, including former Zambia boss Herve Renard, Italian Giovanni Trapattoni and Dutchman Dick Advocaat, Afrikansoccer reported.

For the second time in his career, Zaki takes charge of the Atlas Lions after he led them to the finals of Africa Nations Cup in 2004.

The former goalkeeper, Badou Zaki made a name for himself as a player with the Moroccan team in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico as his marvelous saves guided the team to reach the knockout stage, reported by Ahram Online .

His first term in charge with the national team ended in 2005. Since then the national football suffered a lot starting from the team failure to qualify for the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany.
