  My journey

 to becoming a  Muslim
   by Antony Mallinson

When my parents were married in the 1950's it was not considered to be a good thing to be in a mixed marriage, no this was not a question of colour or race, but a matter of religion.

Even in Christianity there are divisions, my father belong to the Catholic faith and my mother to the Church of England, if you know your history and Henry V111 you will know the difference.

With this in mind my parents brought myself and my brothers up to decide our own path with regard to our faith, this allowed us to investigate and explore other choices, while I was initially guided by friends and peers to follow the path of my mother regarding faith, I become more and more doubtful and fell into a period of being an agnostic, but always in my mind I knew there had to be something.

During the 1990's I started researching the many different choices out there and they ALL had the same theme there is only one God, then I had the good fortune to live and work amongst Pakistani Muslims in the UK from whom I learned many things about Islam and was able to compare the similarities between religions, the more I researched and asked questions the more I was convinced that Islam was the correct choice.

I was already on the path to becoming a Muslim and this is when my journey brought me to Morocco

I have never regretted the choice, the only regret I have is that I did not make the choice sooner.
