A lesson in writing skills
The topic:
“Women at work bear heavy responsibilities, they encounter serious problems both at work and at home; write an article about how to manage their time and tasks”
First, ss discuss the important points of the topic together with the teacher
Brainstorming:
T- What are the important words in the topic?
- responsibilities of the woman at home: housework like cleaning, cooking, washing, looking after children, shopping
At work : doing her tasks appropriately, respecting time, respecting people and serve them correctly.
How to manage time? using what? when ? How? Why? (Wh question help students to find more information and ideas)
Second:
T- gives the opportunity to his/her ss to write the topic sentence for the paragraph (focus on time ) after 5 minutes the T. checks and corrects some ss’ T.S. If there is one relevant T.S. they copy it in their paper
and work on the controlling ideas.
This is one topic sentence as an example:
Nowadays, most women bear heavy responsibilities both at home and at work. ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–. As a result they may do Incomplete tasks and they can neglect their children who represent the future generation. (supply with the concluding sentence
